Montecassino Abbey is a Benedictine monastery located on the summit of Montecassino, Lazio. It is the oldest monastery in Italy along with the Monastery of St. Scholastica. It rises 516 meters above sea level. Shuttles connecting the city to the Abbey leave from Cassino station at the following times:

09:50 a.m. weekday and holiday hours.
11:30 a.m. weekday and holiday hours.
3:00 p.m. weekday and holiday hours (goes up and remains stationary at the Abbey parking lot, until 5:10 p.m.)
5:10 p.m. weekday and holiday hours (downhill)

Gaeta is one of the most characteristic towns on the Pontine coast. It rises at the foot of Mount Orlando, in the heart of the Riviera d'Ulisse. The origin of its name, from the ancient Caieta, is surrounded by legend. According to Virgil, the name comes from the nurse of Aeneas who died near these shores. Thus he narrates in a famous passage in the Aeneid, and Dante confirms the origin. According to the etymological study of the geographer Strabo, on the other hand, the name would come from the Doric voice "Kaietas," with the meaning of inlet, in fact it was in this very area that many Phoenician and Greek navigators landed.

A stone's throw from our facility (200 meters), is the British Cemetery. Protagonist, despite itself, of one of the bloodiest pages of World War II, Cassino is home to several military shrines where soldiers who died during the battles of Cassino that took place between January and May 1944 were buried. The most famous is the Commonwealth Military Cemetery, where 4,266 soldiers of British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and South African nationalities, as well as Indians and Pakistanis and a Red Army soldier rest. A total of 284 bodies were never identified. Inside the Cemetery in 1956 the Cassino Memorial was erected in order to pay tribute to the soldiers of Queen Elizabeth who took part in the conflict.
